Privacy Policy

Last updated August 14, 2026

The short version: SYNCd collects the information needed to run a friend-matching service. We do not sell your personal information. Compatibility answers are used to calculate and explain matches.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how SYNCd ("SYNCd," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use syncd.life, join our waitlist, or use the SYNCd mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service").

2. Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Account information, such as your name, email address, password, and username.
  • Profile information, such as your photo, bio, campus or location, interests, and visibility preference.
  • Compatibility survey responses and the scores or match reasons calculated from them.
  • Messages, group activity, and other content you choose to share through the Service.
  • Waitlist information, including your email, optional quiz result, and how you reached the website.
  • Support requests and other communications you send to us.

Information collected through use of the Service

  • Basic technical and usage information needed to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the Service, such as device type, app version, request logs, and timestamps.
  • A push-notification token if you enable notifications.
  • Location information you choose to add to your profile. We will not collect precise device location without asking for permission first.

Website source tracking

If a SYNCd link includes a source tag such as ?src=ig, we keep that tag in your browser session and attach it to a waitlist signup. This helps us understand which launch links work. The current website does not use advertising cookies.

3. How we use information

  • Provide, maintain, and secure the Service.
  • Create accounts and display the profile information you choose to make visible.
  • Calculate compatibility scores and explain relevant match factors.
  • Recommend people, groups, and conversation context.
  • Deliver messages and notifications.
  • Manage beta access, respond to support, and communicate important Service updates.
  • Investigate abuse, enforce our Terms, and protect members and the Service.
  • Understand and improve how the Service performs.

4. What other members can see

Depending on your settings, other members may see your name, profile photo, bio, campus or general location, interests, group memberships, and compatibility information. Chat participants can see the messages and content you send to them.

The ordinary profile interface does not display an answer-by-answer compatibility survey. Members may see a resulting score, shared interests, and plain-language match context.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in these limited circumstances:

  • With other members: as described above and based on the features and visibility settings you use.
  • With service providers: companies that host data, authenticate accounts, store images, deliver push notifications, or help us operate the Service. These currently include Supabase and Google Firebase.
  • When you request reply ideas: recent conversation context and relevant shared interests may be processed by Google Gemini through our server-side feature to generate the requested suggestions.
  • For safety or legal reasons: when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, investigate fraud or abuse, or protect rights and safety.
  • In a business transfer: as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate protections.

6. Your choices

  • Edit your profile information and visibility setting in the app.
  • Choose whether to upload a photo, add a location, or enable push notifications.
  • Delete your account from the Profile screen. This removes the active account and associated profile data, subject to limited legal, safety, and backup retention.
  • Ask to leave the waitlist or request privacy help by emailing hello@syncd.life.

7. Retention and security

We keep information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain safety and integrity, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes. Waitlist information is retained until it is no longer needed for beta access or you ask us to remove it.

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

8. Age requirement

SYNCd is intended for people who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us so we can investigate and delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Service changes. We will post the revised version here and update the date above. If a change materially affects how we use information already collected, we will provide additional notice or request consent when required.

10. Contact

Questions or privacy requests can be sent to hello@syncd.life.
